Wealth Through Conservation - project details

Overview

Our \"Wealth Creation through Conservation\" program aims to reforest over 500 acres of desertified land in Magadi, Kenya. Our tree planting program provides access to clean water, improved community services and most importantly an income for the Masai community.

This project will enable rural Africans to receive an income of over $200 USD per month based on the number of trees planted out. Also, other income generating activites, such as beekeeping and eco tourism will greatly benefit the community. We have already planted 5,000 trees in schools and clinics and our nursery has generated over 100,000 seedlings. The focus of our program is training the local Masai in agro forestry and business skills. Already 30 Masai, including 6 women have been trained. 2 Masai women work in the nursery full-time.
